Throughout our lives Richard and I have shared a great love of dogs. In the mid 1970’s we moved to California. There we were introduced to and went on to acquire our first English Setter. It was the beginning for us of what has become a long lasting and dedicated love affair with this wonderful breed. When we began looking for an English Setter that we could show, that search led us to well known breeder, Mr. Neal Weinstein, and his famous Guys ‘N Dolls bloodline. Through Neal we acquired our first “show dog”, Guys ‘N Dolls Breathless Mahoney. “Breathless” introduced us to the fascinating world of dog shows. She became our first Champion, and then went on to become our foundation bitch. Our love of the old time movie classics and “legends of the silver screen” was instrumental in our selecting “Legends” as our kennel name in the early 1990’s. In addition, we also felt very deeply that every English Setter, by the very nature of their being, becomes a “legend” in their owner’s heart! Legends is dedicated to breeding top quality English Setters . . .who will excel in the show ring as well as in obedience, agility, field, and last, but certainly not least, excel as loving ccompanions. Our dogs are family members first . . . show and performance dogs second. All of our puppies are hand raised in our home. Health, temperament, type and soundness are our breeding program’s top priorities. In addition, we are devoted to maintaining the elegance and beauty of this wonderful breed. We belong to the English Setter Association of America and closely adhere to the English Setter standard and Code of Ethics. We also are members of Monterey Bay English Setter Club, California English Setter Club and the Puget Sound English Setter Club.
